Call for Local Coordinators – Election Observation Mission to Hungary 2026

Agora Election Observation is seeking three young applicants based in Hungary who are familiar with the country context and interested in youth engagement in elections and election observation. Selected candidates will join the mission as Local Coordinators.

Agora Election Observation will deploy an election observation mission comprising young observers and three Mission Coordinators from across Europe to multiple locations throughout Hungary.

The mission will be deployed for five nights and aims to generate practical, field-based insights and evidence-based observations on the process.

The mission foresees three (3) Local Coordinator positions, designed to work closely with and provide on-the-ground support to the Mission Coordinators. The roles are as follows:

Local Logistics Coordinator

  • Support the deployment of observers and interpreters to polling stations.
  • Assist the Logistics Coordinator with day-to-day field coordination tasks.

Local Outreach Coordinator

  • Support outreach and networking with local and national institutions and organisations.
  • Assist with liaison and communications with relevant stakeholders.

Local Research Coordinator

  • Support translation and proofreading of key mission outputs (preliminary research, press release, and final report).
  • Assist the Research Coordinator with field coordination tasks as required.

To be considered for a Local Coordinator position with the Agora Election Observation Mission, applicants should meet the following criteria:

Requirements:

  • Be preferably 18–35;
  • Have a strong command of both English and Hungarian;
  • Have solid knowledge of Hungary, in particular of the region/town where the applicant is based;
  • Preferably be a Hungarian citizen; however, applications from international volunteers residing in Hungary who meet the criteria are also welcome.

Application procedure:
Please apply here no later than 20 February 2026 (23:59 CET). We encourage early applications, as submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

If you are shortlisted, we aim to contact you by 23 February 2026 with an invitation to interview.

We look forward to receiving your application.

Please note: Agora missions are conducted on a fully voluntary basis. As a rule, the positions are unpaid and do not include reimbursement of travel or accommodation costs. Participants are responsible for ensuring they have adequate health insurance coverage throughout the mission. This applies to Coordinators as well as all members of the Agora Election Observation team. Should we be able to secure donor support, we will inform selected participants accordingly.
