Call for Coordinators – Election Observation Mission to Hungary 2026
Agora Election Observation is looking for three young coordinators to lead its upcoming Election Observation Mission (EOM) to the Parliamentary Elections in Hungary, scheduled for April 2026.
Mission Focus
The mission will assess the conditions under which young people participate in the electoral process. Particular attention will be paid to youth participation not only as voters, but also as candidates, activists, and election officials.
The EOM will engage with a wide range of domestic stakeholders, including:
• electoral authorities,
• political party representatives and (young) candidates,
• government institutions responsible for youth affairs,
• civil society organizations and youth networks.
Findings will be presented in a comprehensive final report.
Mission Duration & Format
Mission Coordinators are appointed for a period of approximately five months, from early February until the end of June 2026.
• February–April: mission preparation (remote);
• Election period (April): presence in Budapest during the deployment week;
• May–June: finalization and dissemination of the mission report (remote).
The workload will vary throughout the mission period, with a peak around the in-country deployment. Coordinators are expected to remain available throughout the entire duration.
Open Positions
Three coordinator positions are available:
Logistics Coordinator
Responsible for mission logistics and compliance with mission procedures and standards. Tasks include:
• recruiting and liaising with observers;
• supporting observers with accommodation and transportation arrangements;
• leading the in-country briefing;
• monitoring observer activities on Election Day.
Outreach Coordinator
Responsible for stakeholder mapping and engagement. Tasks include:
• identifying and contacting relevant stakeholders;
• arranging and conducting interviews;
• sourcing experts for in-country briefings;
• facilitating stakeholder input into the final report.
Research Coordinator
Responsible for the analytical framework of the mission. Tasks include:
• analysing the political and electoral system, with a focus on youth participation;
• supervising observer research tasks;
• preparing observation forms and assisting in the design of questionnaires;
• drafting the final report, which serves as the mission’s key reference document.
Desired Qualifications
• experience in project management and international teamwork;
• familiarity with electoral processes (prior election observation experience is an asset);
• availability in the two months preceding the election (approximately 1–2 hours per day, with increased workload during peak periods), as well as one month after;
• strong online communication skills, reliability, and responsiveness;
• excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, independence, and ability to meet deadlines.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
• be between 18 and 35 years old;
• not hold Hungarian citizenship;
• have professional fluency in English;
• be available to work remotely throughout the mission period and to be present in Budapest during deployment.
• Knowledge of Hungarian or closely related languages is an asset but not required.
Practical Information
Agora Election Observation missions are conducted on a 100% voluntary basis.
No remuneration or reimbursement of travel or accommodation expenses is provided.
Participants are responsible for arranging their own health insurance for the duration of the mission.
